2/14/2010 Started Assembly of the Engine

Today I was able to get with my buddy to start assembling the engine.  We spent about 5 hours making sure all of our tolerances on the main bearings, connecting rod bearings, and rings.  All specs were well within tolerances.  We installed the cam first.  The cam bearings were installed by Kotzur Racing.  We also installed the crankshaft but will need to replace the main bearing bolts as we had one stretch during torquing.  We installed all the pistons.  Next session we will degree the cam and hopefully get the other main components installed.  I have some decisions to make on pulleys and fuel injection. 

2/6-7/2010 Work on Installation of Master Cylinder

I ordered the Whitbys brake master cylinder kit.  I painted the power booster and the frame adaptor.  I made the cuts to the frame where instructed in the Whitbys kit.  The frame adaptor needed to be ground down a little to fit into the tube of the frame primarily due to the welds of the footbox.  While working on the frame modification I also painted the clutch and brake pedals. 

1/31/10 Preliminary Alignment

Today I spent about 2 hours adjusting the alignment.  I set the ride height to 4.5".  Then adjusted the caster, camber and toe to specifications noted in manual.  Final measures will be checked when engine is installed.  Bump steer measurements will also be checked.
